Service Learning is an integral part of Christ Episcopal School. There are many needs throughout our community, and CES has had a history of trying to address some of those needs. We began by simply doing community service projects, but it has developed into service learning. Through service learning, connections are made between what is being taught in the classroom and our outreach projects. Our students' work gives them the opportunity to identify the problems and help be part of the solution, giving them "ownership" within the community. Through our "service" we are "learning." With the Service Learning Coordinator and parent volunteers, each grade participates in several projects. Service Learning projects are cross-curricular and multi-generational, so during a child's time here, they interact with individuals from all stages of life, developing skills learned in several areas, including academic. The goal is that our students develop an appreciation of the blessings God has bestowed upon them, an understanding of their responsibility to see the needs of others, and acquire skills that will help them continue to help others after they leave Christ Episcopal School. Interested parents may contact Maurine Magne for information on participation. Click here to see Service Learning Projects by Grade Click here to learn more about our Service Learning Partners.
